Every big bet spins a story, and that story is fenced in by two things: where the opponent's range began and the board sitting in front of you. Open a known seat and then bet flop, turn and river, and the range tends to be polarised — the strong hands that want a call alongside the busted draws that can only win by bluffing. On the river your task is to weigh which of those two buckets is heavier and whether your hand tops the value half. This drill hammers the value half: given the range and the board, what is the strongest hand they can plausibly rep? Once it leaps out at you, the rest — how many bluffs balance it, whether your odds justify a call — turns manageable.
